Famous for its sun, surf and sand, the beautiful Gold Coast stretches along 57 kilometres of coastline. Gold Coast City spans across 1,402 square kilometres featuring 70 kilometres of sandy coast from South Stradbroke Island to Rainbow Bay.
Gold Coast Population
As of June 2002, the population was 438,000 making it the sixth largest city in Australia. The population is expected to increase to around 700,000 by the year 2021.

The Gold Coast climate is described as sub-tropical with approx 287 days of sunshine annually.
Average Summer Temperatures: 19 to 29 degrees Celsius (66 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit).
Average Winter Temperatures: 9 to 21 degrees Celsius (48 to 69 degrees Fahrenheit).
Gold Coast Transport
The region is served by Gold Coast International Airport, with frequent domestic services from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Hobart, and International services from Japan and Asia and New Zealand. Brisbane's (Queensland's capital city) International Airport also provides major tourist links with the USA and Europe.

Gold Coast Environment
Research has highlighted that Gold Coast City is the most biologically-diverse city in Australia. Its vegetation ranges from coastal wetlands to mountain rainforest and is home to more than:

- 72 mammals

- and 25 species of fish.
